I got a chance to sit down with three of West Pine’s pregnant teachers, and talk to them about what it’s like to be teaching for two! Now, let’s get to the ‘juicy stuff’.
What is the hardest part of being pregnant and a teacher?
Swofford- tired by the end of the day
Werner- physical limitations in the classroom
Raynor- trying to get 6-8 weeks of lesson plans done before maternity leave
Do any of your symptoms affect you during the school day?
Swofford- morning sickness
Werner- not anymore
Raynor- tired, physical limitations
How long do you plan on taking off for maternity leave?
Swofford- 6-8 weeks
Werner- 5 weeks
Raynor- 6-8 weeks
When is your due date?
Swofford- March 8th, 2016
Werner- December 16th, 2015

Raynor- December 17th, 2015
What are you planning to do for child care when your maternity leave is over?
Swofford- daycare, in-laws
Werner- mother
Raynor- no idea,
What do your students think about you being pregnant?
Swofford- don’t want her to leave
Werner- always trying to pick out a name
Raynor- not sure, probably that I’m ‘large and in charge’
BONUS QUESTION: Do you have any cravings or aversions?
Swofford- Cravings-none
Aversions- popcorn & chicken
Werner- Cravings- cake
Aversions- none
Raynor- Cravings- pickles, Oreos™ w/milk, chocolate, & macaroni w/ ketchup
Aversions- turkey sandwiches & sushi
