Football

 

The West Pine Wildcats football team suffered another loss against West Lee Middle School with the final score being 22 to 36. Levi Bear scored first for West Pine with an 80 yard touchdown from a kickoff return. Philip Roberson scored 2 extra points for the Wilcats getting the two point conversion. Scoring next for the Wildcats was Braxton Barber scoring as time ran out in the second quarter on a pick six interception. Again, Philip Roberson got the two point conversion for the Wildcats. As time ran out in the fourth quarter Philip Roberson scored on a rushing touchdown. A loss, but still a hard fought game for the Wildcats.

 

Tennis

 

The West Pine Wildcats tennis team extended their winning streak with a clean sweep against Crains Creek, defeating them 9-0. Winnning in singles was Will Bode, Charlie Hodges, Maddie Arrington, Anna Grace Black, Jake La Frenz, and Daniel Voltz. Winning in doubles for the Wildcast was Ben Montalbo and Will Blackwood, Amelia Hollrah, and Claire Murden. In an exhibition match Maddie Arriington teamed up with a Crains Creek player to compete against Emma Sikes and A. G. Black. All 3 were instrumental in ensuring that the Crains Creek player had a fun experience in spite of the score. Way to go Wildcats!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Professional Sports

NFL: 

It was another interesting week in the NFL. There are 5 undefeated teams left after the New Orleans Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. 3 of those 5 teams struggled to get their wins on Sunday. The Denver Broncos edged out the Cleveland Browns in overtime as Brandon McManus kicked a game winning field goal. The Green Bay Packers stopped Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers on 4th down. Cam Newton lead the Carolina Panthers down the field as he threw a game winning touchdown to Greg Olsen, as they beat the Seattle Seahawks. The other 2 undefeated teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots, both had slightly easier victories to stay perfect. On the opposite side, there are no longer any defeated teams as the Detroit Lions got their first victory against the Chicago Bears.

Carolina Hurricaes: 

VS The Aneheim Ducks:

The Caroolina Hurricanes played very hard and came out with a victory against the Aneheim Ducks. Inn the first period, the scoring started off with Jeff Skinner scoring a goal with the assist going to Ron Hainsey. The second period got off to  agreat start with Jeff Skinner  scoring again with help from Victor Rask and Phillip Di Giuseppe. Elias Lindholm scored on a power play with help from Eris Staal and Justin Faulk tto make it 3 to 0 Carolina. Anaheim struck next in the third period with a goal from Jakob Silfverberg with assists from Sami Vatanen and Richard Rakell. Carolina scored next with a goal from Jordan Staal and assists from Andrej Nestrasil and Justin Faulk. Jeff Skinner scored again on an empty net to make it a hattrick. The assists went to Brett Pesce. The three stars of the game were Eddie Lack, Jeff Skinner, and Corey Perry.
